It’s a common misconception that K-style gutters are called K-style gutters because they resemble the letter “K”. However, the reason behind the name is far from that. Gutters come in a variety of styles or profiles, and SMACNA, or the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors National Association, came up with a list of the 12 most common types of rectangular gutter profiles. A K-style gutter is the 11th on that list, so it was assigned the letter “K”, the 11th letter in the alphabet.

K-style gutters account for approximately 80% of rain gutter installations in the country. This is often attributed to its highly effective system, which consists of two main parts: its K-style profile and seamless design. Seamless gutters are typically custom-fabricated for each home.
